7 Quick Takes (vol. 20)

--- 1 ---
I saw this amazing story on Facebook this week.  Family survives in the Siberian taiga alone for 40 years?  I want to read the book...

--- 2 ---
I also saw this amazing thing on Facebook.  So true.  So very, very true.

Speaking of muffins, I'm pretty sure there's some shredded zucchini in the freezer.  I should make muffins tomorrow.  Mmm... muffins...

But you know what's even better than a cup of coffee, even better than coffee with a muffin to go with it?  Chocolate Guinness shakes.  We discovered this amazing creation at Red Robin this week and experimented with our own version for dessert at family dinner night tonight.  Chocolate ice cream, Guinness, and Irish whiskey.  It might sound a bit odd, but it's amazing, I promise.  Of course, it helps if you like Guinness to begin with.  If you don't, I'll drink yours for you.

This dessert was quite exciting--it occasioned a visit to two of my favorite places: the liquor store and the ice cream aisle at the grocery store!

On a different note--and because no Q/T is ever quite complete without Michael antics--here's this week's story.  I got out the Bumbo earlier this week for Liam (he is almost 3 months old... how did that happen?).  Liam isn't too thrilled with it quite yet, but Michael is absolutely in love with it.  No matter where I try to hide it it finds it and brings it to me with "Elmo, chair?  Elmo, sit?"  "No, Michael, Elmo is sleeping/nursing/needs a diaper right now, he can't sit in his chair."  "Mite-nal, chair?  Mite-nal, sit?"  "No, Michael, you're too big for the Bumbo."  And of course as soon as I look over he's sitting in it.  And of course I don't have my camera handy to document the (obstinate) cuteness.

I'm incredibly sore and so very ready for bed.  Alex had the day off today, and so this morning I got to leave the boys with him and accompany my mother-in-law to her river-walk exercise class at the rec center.  Oh. My. Goodness.  It was an intense hour-long workout, and when I got home it was all I could do not dig out my smallest pair of jeans and try to fit into them.  I felt like I certainly must have burned enough calories to magically be back at my pre-(Michael)pregnancy size.  But I resisted, because I think the disappointment on top of the fatigue would have caused a collapse from which recovery would have been nearly impossible.

Do you have any recommendations for double strollers?  We're in the market for one, and I'm completely overwhelmed by all the options.  Reading reviews online is only so helpful--I want recommendations from "real" people.  Main use would be walking around the neighborhood and on (more or less) paved trails.  I'm not a runner, and it's been years since I've even jogged, but I need it to handle decently well for a fast-paced walk over hills and potholes.  Your recommendations are most appreciated!

Go see Jen for more quick takes!  Happy Friday :)
