- Elmo -- Liam (no longer just baby!)
- Yoo -- Used to refer to himself. We're practicing saying "Michael," but after two years of hearing us address him as "you" and point out pictures "look, it's you!" he's a little confused on his pronouns. It's pretty cute.
- Luh yoo -- Love you. So sweet to hear :)
- Morning! -- As a general greeting, regardless of the time of day.
- Thomas -- Yes! Finally, after saying "Toot toot!" for almost a year (it was, in fact, his first word), he is finally calling Thomas the Tank Engine by his proper name. But whenever he says Thomas it sounds like he has a cold... more of a Dom-us. Way cute.
- HAPpy nooh yee-ah -- Michael has not stopped saying "Happy New Year" since Tuesday. I think in his mind it's equivalent to "love you" and "goodbye." We've got this one on tape and I'll post it as soon as I get my stuff together and figure out how to get video from the camera onto my new laptop, and from there to the internet...
- Bess yoo -- God bless you. Used at bedtime, when saying goodbye, and whenever you make any sound out of your nose, regardless of whether it was really a sneeze or not.
- Dat yoo -- Thank you (has evolved from dai!). He is very good and saying thank you, and he will keep saying it until you acknowledge him (and then some).
- Elp! -- Help. Sometimes tearful; sometimes accompanied by pees; nearly always frantic.
- Poffee -- Coffee. He was asking for it when he woke up this morning. He doesn't get any, but he is surrounded by adults who drink quite a bit of it, so not surprising that he's picked it up.
Michael is talking up a storm, and I love it. I was definitely looking forward to the convenience of him being able to tell me what he wants, but I had no idea the thrill and wonder I would feel at each new word and phrase he learns to say.
