Happy, happy, happy 2nd birthday, Michael Alexander!
Two years ago you made your appearance (in your own good time, I might add) as a handsome, curious, busy little infant boy. And you are still so very handsome, curious, and busy as a two-year-old (and you still do things in your own good time, of course).
Your Daddy and I are so in love with you. Your inquisitive nature, your gentle love for your little brother, your goofy sense of humor--all of these traits and everything else that makes you Michael are so very dear to us. I never get tired of watching you pump your arms as you dance to any kind of theme music. I love reading your favorite books and hearing you join in with the words you know at the right points in the story. I love that even though you are so busy being a little boy you will (almost) always stop for a hug and a kiss. I love how you tell me you have owies just so I'll kiss your fingers and elbows and head.
You are such a joy in our lives, Michael Alexander. I have learned so much about joy, love, and yes, sacrifice (i.e., never ever getting enough sleep) as your mother. I've also learned the names of more friends of Thomas the Tank Engine than I ever would have thought existed--and I love this too. I had no idea motherhood would be so hard and so much fun, all at the same time.
It has been an amazing two years, my love. God has blessed us so richly by giving you to us. I can't wait to see what he has in store--I know his plans for you are wonderful, because he loves you so much more than even Daddy and I are capable of loving you. And that's a lot, trust me.
