My encouragement during this transition back to changing diapers and reading Thomas books solo has been (trying to) meditate on the following:
"For each of us has been created to praise, reverence, and serve God
and by this means to save our souls and help in the salvation of others.
No action, however insignificant, if accepted and performed as from God's hand
and in conformity with his will, is anything other than redemptive
and a sharing in the great work of salvation begun by Christ's passion...
The work of the kingdom, the work of laboring and suffering with Christ,
is no more spectacular for the most part than the routine of daily living."
- Fr. Walter Ciszek, S.J.
While I continue to try to remind myself that changing epic diapers and doing the resulting load(s) of laundry are a sharing in the redemptive work of Christ, here's how we spent our break:
Extra bedtime stories and extra snuggles
Shoveling and playing in the snow
Decorating and eating Christmas cookies
And napping and reading
